Music really is an essential part of childhood. Just think of your own toddler, bouncing and jiving to the beat of the radio, songs on television, or any other music they are exposed to. Music really is a natural, instinctual part of a child – just like their own heartbeat. I personally think that every child is rhythmically trained in the womb as they listen and feel their own mother for nine months. That’s why I love Kindermusik. Their philosophy is that every child is musical and every child should experience the joy, fun, and learning which music brings to life. They also believe that music nurtures a child’s cognitive, emotional, social, language, and physical development. And I wholeheartedly agree!
When my son, now 6, was 18 months old we enrolled in Kindermusik’s “Our Time” class. It was an absolute joy to watch and play with my son musically. Not only did we get to interact with other moms and children of similar ages, but we got to sing and dance and play so creatively. My son loved playing the musical instruments even at the very young age of 18 months. And I thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch and interact with him so uninhibitedly. We loved the Cd and book that came with the class and our subsequent classes were just as delightful!
My daughter, now age 2, is now in Kindermusik classes and it is so much fun for the entire family! She goes around the house singing and clapping for herself at the end of every song. At bath time she is doing the “wishy washy wishy washy weeeee!” complete with hand actions. My son is reliving his experience as he remembers some of the songs and stories and talks to me about experiences he and I had together.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I have wondered what Kindermusik is like. I will try it out soon with my daughter! We do the Gymboree music classes, but this sounds great.
