Shopping From Your Pantry

Do you ever need to make your grocery budget stretch, or just don’t have the time to make it to the store?
A great way to cut out a week from your grocery bill, or just save yourself a trip to the market is to shop from your pantry and freezer. Plan out your menus using up the ingredients that you have on hand. This is a great way to save a little cash, and tidy up your pantry in the process!
Be creative, why not try having breakfast for dinner one night? (kids love this!) Cereal with fruit, omelets, and oatmeal, are all quick and easy and can be a fun change if you are looking for a light meal.
If you are like me you can accumulate lots of things for appetizers, I always have several frozen varieties on hand for impromptu entertaining- why not fix up several varieties and serve with a salad for a casual meal? (great during a football or basketball game)
Soups and stews are a great way to make use of a hodge-podge of canned items, frozen veggies and any fresh produce or meat you might have on hand, and it is so easy to throw a few ingredients in the crock-pot and a few hours later have a yummy, frugal meal!
If you have rice on hand, fix according to the package directions, scramble an egg or two, and add vegetables such as peas and carrots for an easy vegetable “fried” rice. This is a great way to stretch any leftover meat too! What are your favorite meals to fix shopping from your pantry?
