Marriage Resolutions

A new year is here!

It is the time of year when many make resolutions to improve their lives/ themselves, but what about your marriage? Why not sit down with your hubby and together come up with some resolutions to better your marriage? If your husband isn’t willing to sit down and talk-that’s ok, come up with some resolutions from your end. Any effort from either party is worth it!

When you are writing out your goals or resolutions, also take the time to think about what you can do to make it happen, and write that down too! It is much easier to take action when you have a plan. Think about the things in your marriage that could use improving, but also think about the things that you love, what can you do to foster these things?

If spending more quality time together is a priority, block off a time each week, or make a standing appointment with a sitter so you guarantee alone time each week. Do you and your husband disagree over money causing tension in the marriage? Sit down and come up with realistic ways you can make your money situation more agreeable to you both. Many couples fight over money, but never actually take the time to talk about spending before it actually occurs. Do you feel you communicate your needs and desires? Make a commitment to ask for what you want and need, remember your husband is not a mind reader. You’ll be much happier if you leave the childish attitude of “if he doesn’t know I’m not going to tell him” attitude behind.

Remember this is a two way street- ask your hubby what his wants and desires are, you might be surprised! Could your marriage stand a little more fun? Come up with a list of ten things you want to do together this year- then take action, pencil them in on your calendar, make the necessary arrangements, you’ll be so glad you did! Taking a few minutes to get on the same page as your spouse could make 2008 the best year yet!
