Why Do I Sell on Mommy Auctions?

Most of you know from my previous blogs that I really enjoy writing informative pieces. I just love to compile research and use my own experience and knowledge to write articles. However, after a suggestion was made for me to write on the topic of why my WAHM business expanded to sell on MA, I though it would allow me to write a more narrative piece!
Now, I do consider myself a WAHM for a couple of reasons. All moms, in my opinion, are WAHM, whether you stay home with your children or work outside of the home. I have been blessed to stay home with my babies/toddlers, ages 28 months and 14 months, for the last three years. About a year ago I started selling on-line and enjoyed selling children’s clothes, especially infant girl clothes. I do have a step-daughter, but she is a tomboy! So, I have no girlie girls for which to buy!
I opened a few on-line stores at various venues to get my feet wet and to see what would come of it. What I found out is that with a lot of hardwork, perserverance, and being in the right place at the right time, one can be a successful seller.
Back in December, I decided to expand my clothing inventory to include personalized children’s books. I found a company that I really liked and started right away. My goal is to sell off my clothing inventory and just concentrate on selling these books. As an avid reader and reading teacher, I LOVE books and feel a calling to promote literacy to kids. My books allow me to do that!
Now, this is where Mommy Auctions comes in. I found this site quite by accident as I was surfing on a pretty well-known manual traffic exchange. I had seen an advertisement a few times, and the banner and name of the auction site really piqued my interest. I decided to check it out! WOW! They say first impressions are everything, and I know this sounds shallow, but I loved the look of the homepage, all those pastel colors! I cruised a couple stores and nosed around in the forums. What I discovered was that these women on the forums were so friendly, supportive of one-another, and really dedicated to not only their selling, but also to their families!

I decided to move ALL my inventory from another auction site and open shop here. For me, as one who is trying to establish a relatively successful store that allows me to make spending money to buy my kids’s clothes and toys, this site looked promising! Free listings, free stores, free pictures, a low final value fee, free relistings, an easy-to-use listing form: all of this added up to a smart business move for me!
Another thing I liked about MA was the “boutique” atmosphere and streamlined listings. It is not an impersonal, flooded auction site. My children’s books will do well here, I think, with this being a niche site for mommy and kids’ items.
Last but not least, Sam, the owner, goes above and beyond the call of duty. She actively participates on the forums, is very flexible, supportive, encouraging, and open to suggestions and new ideas.
This site is more than auction site! It is a very caring community of business women! By participating on the forums, buyers and sellers can interact socially and informally with one another. It’s kind of like buying from a friend! It allows us to showcase our “small town” customer service touch that the big sellers just can’t provide!
Selling on Mommy Auctions allows me to sell in a relaxed environment and spend quality time with my family!! I am so thankful that I found Mommy Auctions and can’t wait to see what the future holds!Even my son Noah loves Mommy Auctions!
