Once again, this topic has been covered beautifully!
We called co-sleeping, "family bed" and it worked out very well for us. We have always kept a nice king size bed and it was absolutely natural to have our children share that space between us. As an infant, we used a pillowpedic concave "pillow" that nestled our baby nicely, keeping him/her safely in place all night and within an arms length away to scoop up and nurse or to comfort.
We would highly recommend this bedtime arrangement in the early years of your child's development.
Our kids sleep 10-12 hrs. a night in their own beds and have since their preschool years!

Thanks again for a terrific for your well written view on a very important subject!
